Fig & Fauna
One of a kind, handcrafted pieces of functional art, inspired from the amazing world around us!
I have been a lifelong lover of jewelry. When I was a little girl, my aunts would take me to their jewelry boxes and let me try on all their jewelry, I was mesmerized by all the different colors and the way the earrings dangled. Fast forward a little bit and I became a lover of the arts as well. There is something so special about seeing the different ways we express ourselves and holding on to something that has the human touch. That is something no machine can replicate.
I especially fell in love with working with clay. Most of my work is slab built or sculpted. I enjoy the very tactile nature of this process. That being said, it’s important for you to know that slab built work is perfectly imperfect, or wabi sabi. At first, I fought this. Now, however, I am learning to appreciate that is what makes it unique. Each piece tells a little story of the process. I hope you can appreciate it too.
I opened Fig and Fauna to be able to do something I love and to share it with others. From my hands into yours. I am relatively new to clay and hope to continue exploring and learning. I get my inspiration from many places. It may come from nature one day, other cultures another. Really anything that strikes within me a sense of wonder! Inspiration is everywhere, we only need to slow down and look.
Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions that you may have.
