Primitive Mud Pottery
Teresa Speakman fell in love with clay in the mid-’70s when she met a group of potters in the Hocking Hills of Ohio. Her educational experience in art is a combination of formal education at Ohio University, practice, and experimentation. Along the path, she has offered her wares at many venues and events. In December 2022, Teresa opened Mud Gallery at 123 N Columbus St. in Lancaster as home to her pottery for purchase, and to offer playshops for others to handcraft their own!
She believes in the holistic healing properties of art. Built-up stress is released and self-expression and confidence are gained. Taking time for oneself is often neglected in our busy lives. Art is her way of taking time for herself and part of living her dream.
Special orders are available for weddings and other special occasions, such as ring holders, commemorative plates, vases, urns, and more.
Teresa’s pottery has been sold at galleries, art fairs, and festivals. Some previous venues and events include in no particular order: Keller Market House, Lancaster Farmer’s Market, Yellow Springs Street Fair, Ohio Pawpaw Festival, Lancaster Festival Art Walk, Earth Gathering Festival, Spring & Fall at the Round Barn, Avant-Garde Art & Craft Show, Hookahville, Mac Worthington Gallery, Lithopolis Honey Fest, and Hippie Fest, and Etsy.
