K’wela Sustainables
K’wela’s cinnamon story began generations ago at Kosgahawela, a 50 acre family estate in southern Sri Lanka. Once a thriving rubber plantation owned by the Weerasuriya family, the land eventually passed to their children with Hema inheriting ten acres. When the rubber trees were due for replanting, an unexpected pause in the process allowed something remarkable to happen: true Ceylon cinnamon began growing naturally across the property.
What started as a family legacy has become a rare, single origin cinnamon source—grown, harvested, and prepared entirely on the same land. Every stick of K’wela cinnamon comes directly from this farm, making it a genuine farm to table product with complete traceability.
The story behind K’wela spans continents, cultures, and a love that carried two people from Sri Lanka to Ohio and back again. But at its heart is a simple truth: our cinnamon is rooted in one family, one farm, and one place.
K’wela cinnamon is the spice of that story – hand harvested, sun dried, and shared with love.
